Celebrated annually on June 21st, International Yoga Day is a global event dedicated to raising awareness about the profound physical, mental and spiritual benefits of this ancient Indian practice. Established by the United Nations in 2014 following a proposal by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the day highlights yoga’s universal appeal as a holistic path to wellness that transcends borders, religions and cultures. Far more than just physical exercise, yoga represents the union of mind, body and spirit, offering a powerful antidote to the stress and demands of modern life. On this day, millions of people across the world roll out their mats and participate in mass sessions, breathing in unison to cultivate inner peace, improve flexibility and reduce anxiety.
By encouraging mindfulness and a harmonious connection with nature, International Yoga Day serves as a beautiful reminder that true well-being comes from balance, and that peace both internal and global is achievable when we commit to a shared journey of health and harmony. Embracing this very spirit, Maryam Ajmal Women’s College of Science and Technology, through its IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) and NSS (National Service Scheme), successfully organized this mindful event on 21st June 2026. By bringing this timeless tradition to their campus, the college not only empowered its students with tools for mental and physical resilience but also reaffirmed that the journey toward global unity begins with a single, conscious breath right within our own communities.
