World Environment Day, celebrated annually on June 5, is the United Nations’ flagship campaign for raising environmental awareness and inspiring global action. Led by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), each year focuses on a pressing issue—such as plastic pollution, climate change, or ecosystem restoration—with a host country that champions the theme. The day encourages governments, business and individuals to take part in activities like tree planting, clean-ups and policy pledges, emphasizing that collective small actions can drive transformative change for a healthier planet. To mark World Environment Day, Maryam Ajmal Women’s College of Science and Technology actively contributed to a greener future by planting 10 saplings on campus—featuring vibrant bougainvillea, beautiful hibiscus and medicinal neem tree.
