Scope & Objective of the Workshop

The Three-Day Research Methodology Workshop on NEP 2020 aims to strengthen participants’ conceptual clarity and methodological competence in contemporary social science research within the framework of the National Education Policy 2020. The workshop seeks to align research practices with NEP-driven priorities such as multidisciplinary inquiry, skill integration, academic rigor, ethical standards, and outcome-based education. It is designed to equip faculty members, research scholars and students with practical tools in research design, data collection, analysis, academic writing and publication strategies, thereby enhancing research quality, innovation capacity, and institutional academic excellence.

Department of Sociology

The Department of Sociology at Maryam Ajmal Women’s College of Science and Technology promotes critical thinking and a deep understanding of culture and human interaction. Grounded in classical and contemporary sociological traditions, the curriculum examines power, inequality, institutions and social change, enabling students to critically analyze social structures and question dominant narratives.

The program prepares graduates for careers in academia, policy research, civil services and NGOs, equipping them with strong theoretical foundations and practical analytical skills to address contemporary issues and contribute to a more just and equitable society.

Maryam Ajmal Women’s College of Science & Technology, Hojai

Maryam Ajmal Women’s College of Science & Technology, Hojai, established by Ajmal Foundation in 2006 to provide access to quality higher education for women, particularly socially and educationally backward sections of society. The College is affiliated to Dibrugarh University and is recognized under section 2(f) of the UGC Act and also recognized as a minority institution under Section 2(g) of the National Commission for Minority Educational Institution (NCMEI). It is a multidisciplinary institution offering programs in English, Economics, Assamese, Education, Political Science, Sociology, History, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics and Physics. The college embodies the commitment of Ajmal Foundation to social reconstruction through modern education and women empowerment, inspired by the legacy of late Maryam un-Nisa Ajmal. The college offers scholarships and concessions to meritorious students.

Nazir Ajmal Memorial College of Education, Hojai

Established by Ajmal Foundation in 2014 in the fond memory of Late Nazir Ajmal. The college is affiliated to Gauhati University and recognized by NCTE. It offers a two-year B.Ed. programme along with B.A. courses in Assamese, Education, English, Political Science and Sociology. The institution prepares competent, ethical and reflective educators equipped for lifelong learning and effective engagement in contemporary classrooms.

Ajmal Law College, Hojai

Established in 2018 by Ajmal Foundation, it is a non-profit institution affiliated to Gauhati University and recognized by the Bar Council of India. Located in Hojai, Assam, it offers 3-year LL.B. and 5-year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) programs, emphasizing quality legal education, ethical values, leadership and all-round student development.

Haji Ajmal Ali College, Nilbagan, Hojai

Established in 1995 at Nilbagan, Hojai, Assam, to address the long-standing absence of higher education facilities in the region. The college is affiliated to Gauhati University and currently offers undergraduate programmes in the Arts stream under CBCS and NEP-based FYUGP Honours courses.
